Education, job creation project achieves good results

A project to support the education sector and sustainable job creation programme in Rwanda’s Mugambazi and Giti districts has yielded satisfactory results, participants of a tripartite meeting on the project say. At a meeting attended by representatives of ministries, NGOs, local authorities from Byumba and Kigali Rural provinces, and UNDP officials, last week, participants noted that the project had rehabilitated nine schools and assisted local farmers through income-generating and job-creation activities, UNDP said in its weekly update. In total, 433 sustainable jobs were created in 33 associations supporting 2,598 dependents, the meeting was told. The meeting recommended that the project be replicated in other districts as it had successfully implemented comprehensive support for the education sector and sustainable job creation programme in the two districts.
