Witnesses arrive in Belgium

The first prosecution witnesses from Rwanda arrived in Brussels, Belgium at the weekend for the trial of the four Rwandans accused of involvement in the 1994 genocide, the Associated Press (AP) reported. The 12 witnesses, arrived on a scheduled flight from Kigali, Rwanda and were taken under police escort to the military school in Brussels where they will stay during the trial which started last Tuesday. More than 60 witnesses from Rwanda are scheduled to testify at the trial of two Roman Catholic nuns - sisters Maria Kizito and Gertrude, a university professor, Vincent Ntezimana, and a businessman, Alphonse Higaniro charged with participating in the 1994 genocide.
