Museveni says it is time for troops withdrawal

Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni at the weekend said it was time to withdraw the Ugandan People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) out of the DRC because the threat posed by rebels of the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) had been “contained”. “In the coming few days, I shall be making important announcements about our involvement in the Congo. I shall consult with other leaders in the region and we shall come up with decisive actions on the Congo,” the semi-official ‘New Vision’ newspaper quoted Museveni as saying. In an address to the nation, Museveni noted that the country had tried to comply with the Lusaka peace process and that UPDF had pulled back nine battalions from the DRC.
